I shared a lot of special moments with the woman who raised me, my beloved grandmother. As I reflect on fond memories I recall one of the most important lessons she taught me. My grandmother's friends Arlene had been nominated for a community service award. Before the ceremony I remember my grandmother telling Mrs. Arlene she was going to fix her favorite dishes to celebrate her victory. I asked her what if she didn't win. My grandmother's response, " Even if she doesn't win she's still a winner. God has been so good that its a blessing just to be."
As I look back now I understand. When we don't get the job, the promotion doesn't come, or we don't receive what we feel we deserve, we must count our blessings and renew our faith in God who holds tomorrow's opportunities in His hands. " You have turned my mourning into dancing" Psalm 30:11). God has been so good to us and because of His strength we were able to be considered to be interviewed for that job, nominated for the award, etc.
